Another year seems to have whistled past and with only six weeks until Christmas, we wanted to pause and remind our friends, colleagues and neighbours just how festive and exciting North Cornwall is at this time of year.
Our Christmas fairs and markets are some of the best loved and most magical anywhere in the country, but if you’re not feeling Christmassy yet, take a look at what’s on in our beautiful region.
20 — 22 November: Glide elegantly into Christmas with an Ice Skating Spectacular in Launceston Town Square, brought to you by Launceston Chamber of Commerce; starts at 15.00. www.whatsoncornwall.co.uk/sports-and-active/ice-skating/food-rink-2015
21 November: Visit the Cornish Winter Fair for a celebration of farming and food at the Royal Cornwall Showgrounds. By meeting farmers and local food producers – and of course farm animals – you can learn all about how Cornish food is created. The event incorporates the Wadebridge Prime Stock Show, where competitors will show everything from cattle and sheep through to numerous produce and handicraft classes. Entry is free of charge, completely undercover with plentiful free parking. Doors open at 09.00. www.whatsoncornwall.co.uk/community/fairs/the-cornish-winter-fair
Then on 25 November, you can enjoy an evening of fine Wine Tasting in Wadebridge at the Royal Cornwall Showground. Entry is free but visitors must be on the guest list; to add your name call: 01208 812692 or send an email to: sales@wadebridgewines.co.uk www.whatsoncornwall.co.uk/festivals/food-and-drink/wadebridge-wines-christmas-tasting.
5 December; Wadebridge sees the Santa vs Rudolps fun-run and bike ride in aide of Cornwall Hospice Care.
People of all ages are invited to take part or spectate; all are welcome to join Team Santa or Team Rudolph to help raise funds for this fantastic cause. Places are limited so advanced registration is recommended. visit: www.whatsoncornwall.co.uk/seasonal/santa-fun-run-and-cycle-padstow or sign up at www.cornwallhospicecare.co.uk
In the season of giving and goodwill, we’re also proud to plug the Cornwall Air Ambulance craft fair, taking place on 22 November at its Trevithick Downs Newquay headquarters. There’ll be stalls of local arts & crafts, a raffle, tea & cake, teddy tombola – and an opportunity to see the helicopter and meet the crew. From 11.00 – 16.00; donations on entry; further information at: www.cornwallairambulancetrust.org
Then from 27 — 29 November, you can see real life reindeer and Santa in his sleigh, as the night time skies around Newquay are lit up by the magical lantern parade; the official ‘switch on’ of the town’s Christmas lights, paired with a spectacular firework display over the harbour. For more information, including the parade route and tickets, visit: www.newquaybid.co.uk/events
Finally, it wouldn’t be Christmas in North Cornwall without the Padstow Christmas Festival, which runs from Thursday 3rd – Sunday 6th December.
This year you can expect a wealth of seasonal treats, including celebrity chef demonstrations, a lantern parade, Santa’s grotto, fireworks, music on the bandstand, pop-up stalls and late night shopping. There’s a traditional Christmas market situated in a large marquee on the quay side of the town, where stalls will be groaning with Cornish goodies and gifts; it’s a celebration all things Cornish, and not to be missed. www.padstowchristmasfestival.co.uk
Meanwhile, Estuary Estates will continue to do what we do best; that is, providing an excellent and bespoke end to end service for property buyers and sellers alike, until we close for the Christmas holiday on 24th December – 28th December. We are open on 29th and 30th then closed again from 31st December – 3rd January for New Year.
To all our clients and business colleagues, we say thank you so much for all your business, interest and support during 2015 – it’s been another great year.
Wishing you a very happy and healthy Christmas – and season’s greetings to all!
