July is the hottest month in Cornwall with an average temperature of 16°C (61°F). However in July 2014, it was widely reported that ‘Cornwall was hotter than California, as British sea temperatures hit an all-time high’*. These were the findings of the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), which highlighted that many areas of Devon and Cornwall were enjoying warmer seas than in Californian hotspots such as Santa Monica. But whatever the weather, there are few landscapes as breath-taking as the North Cornish coast in the summer months. It’s no coincidence then that many residents come for a week and end up staying a lifetime! The clean, safe beaches, beautiful sandy coves, and high-octane water sports, together with unrivalled countryside views, guarantees thousands of visitors to the region year after year as Cornwall weaves its spell.
According to Rightmove, property prices in Cornwall have risen 3% in the last year; that said, you’ll be surprised by how much you can get for your money, particularly if you head inland a little, opting for countryside locations – rather than sea views, which often command premium prices. But even in the most popular seaside locations, such as beautiful Roserrow – a short walk from Polzeath Beach, and with its own golf course – you’ll find excellent value for money, as rental yields continue to be high, netting owners a healthy income throughout the holiday season as well as providing all the benefits of owning a stunning holiday home for private use.
You may also be surprised at the diversity in property styles on offer; as well as a number of traditional stone cottages that conjure cream teas and bucket and spade holidays, we are currently marketing a range of sought-after contemporary properties that provide a luxurious and elegant take on modern day living.
Finally, on the other side of the coin, sellers will also enjoy the benefits of our buoyant market-place, where demand is high and turnover is brisk, so all in all, it’s a great time to sell.
